A Working Mom Holiday Wish List:
(Note: may contain affiliate links)
I break down my holiday wish list into 3 categories:
1. Useful Items
Things in this category are not necessities such as work clothes or shoes. These are things that are “nice to have” but still provide a lot of utility. Will I live without them? Yes. Do I want them and will use them all the time? Yes.
Here are some items in this category:
-
Robot Vacuum
It would be really nice to have someone clean up the house every day while I’m at work. Since having full time, daily staff is out of the question for most of us, a robot vacuum would be a great, more affordable alternative.
This Roomba i9+ vacuum can be programmed to clean up on a schedule (i.e., after you leave the house every day). The robot also automatically transfers anything it vacuums up directly into a disposable bag. This means you can go weeks without really having to do anything about your floors.
-
Portable Power Charger
Never worry about running out of juice in your cell phone ever again. This portable power charger can add up to 50% battery life! And it it’s the size of a credit card!
-
White sneakers
I have a lot of sneakers. Mostly for working out or walking to the grocery store in my leggings. Sometimes I’d like to wear cute sneakers that are comfortable and stylish. They could be an option in my wardrobe that is both comfortable, and stylish.
I recently bought these shoes and love them:
-
Quilted Vest
This will go perfectly with jeans and my new white sneakers above!! This looks so comfy and is very versatile. I could wear it around the house, or on the way into the office when the morning is very chilly. Or running errands when it’s not quite cold enough for a full jacket. So many uses!
-
Toiletry Bag
For some reasons, I’ve been carrying my toiletries in a plastic bag when I go anywhere, such as the gym or a business trip. Of course on a plane, you do need to use a plastic bag. But I only fly a couple times a year. For some reason, I never got a real toiletry bag. So, I’ve had my eye on this one:
2. Luxuries
In comparison to the “Useful Items” list, these are items that I can’t say would necessarily be a utility player in my life. But, they’ll add a lot of comfort and a hint at extravagance that rewards my hard work at home and in the office.
Here are some Luxuries on my holiday wish list:
-
Silk Pillowcase!!!
These are all the rage these days. It’s not hard to imagine why when there are a lot of claimed benefits about silk pillowcases. Silk pillowcases can do everything from prevent wrinkles to improve your hair (does it also clean the kitchen floor?!). Here is a good article that explains what a silk pillowcase can do for you.
Anyway, even if the stated benefits don’t pan out it, look as super comfortable and, so, it’s on the list!
This set from slip comes with an eye mask. If I did get this for the holidays, I would never leave my bed! It is #1 on my holiday wish list!
OR, I may ask for the travel one, which would make business trips SO much more enjoyable (check out this post for more tips on what to pack for business trips).
If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on this luxury, Amazon has a very reasonably priced silk pillow. My girlfriend bought this one and, I have to say, her hair does look amazing! Maybe she’s just better rested.
-
Comfy PJs
Don’t you love crawling into bed at night with warm, comfy PJs. Makes me want to hop in right now! I could use some comfortable sleepware / loungewear. These caught my eye:
-
Plush Robe
Can you tell I’m obsessed with comfort?! Wouldn’t you love to walk around your house in this luxurious robe?! This actually may not make it on my holiday wish list…I may go out and get it today!
3. Services
Things in this category aim to make my crazy busy working mom life easier. For the holidays, I’d love memberships / fees paid for services that do things so I don’t have to.
Service providers may vary based on where you live, but here are my favorites:
- Grocery Delivery: it’s an amazing feeling to sit on the sofa and buy food for the week. Then go take a shower and find them sitting on your doorstep. I use Instacart but there are many others. I used to use meal delivery services (i.e., Munchery) but honestly it’s easier just to get groceries. You can also get pre-made food delivered from the grocery store too (i.e., rotisserie chicken, potato salad, etc). I will request a renewal of our membership on my holiday wish list!
- Gas!: At my work, there is a service that will fill your car up with gas. You just need to park in a designated spot and indicate that with an app. I’m not listing the name since it’s very unique to my geography and likely isn’t useful. But I suggest searching around as there may be other options. They’ll also do additional cleaning services as well as change windshield wipers. I guess I don’t get this for the holidays per se, but I am so happy about it that I wanted to mention it!
Well, that is my Working Mom Holiday Wish List for 2019! What did you think? I’d love to hear what everyone else has their eye on!
